Birthday Boy

Well, Mr. Daegan had a low key 6th birthday. He woke up this morning and got to open one present--just enough to get him excited about the presents to come this evening. The fam carpooled to school, and Daegan was able to bring cupcakes to celebrate his big day with his friends. Granny (Patrick's mom) called on the way and sang "Happy Birthday" to him which really brightened his day.

As if the school gods were aligned with Daegan's birthday and need for fun, Daegan's class took a field trip to the ...well, the school gym--but it is what the students saw there that made it special. The kiddos were able to see all kinds of wild animals and Daegan is only a little more shy to creatures than he is to people, so you can imagine he is not shy at all to the nonhumans! (I'll update this part a bit later...sorry, I can't remember what his favorite animal was and want to keep this blog real!)

In the evening we opened presents as a family and Daegan got to experience the beginnings of having a brother who is interested in the same toys Daegan is. The competition begins!

In a couple weeks we will be taking Daegan and a few other kiddos to a movie. It's sad, but sometimes a reality that we have to celebrate his birthday among friends in February due to increased costs this time of year! Oh, well, his disposition can handle it. As far as Daegan is concerned, his birthday lasts for month!

O.k. So party day didn't go exactly as planned, but it was fun regardless. The plan was to celebrate at Little Azio's Pizzaria and then walk over to see Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories. Unfortunately, the movie was taken out of theaters the Thursday before the party, but we were able to go see Hotel for Dogs which was really quite cute. Daegan was thrilled with his Spiderman cake from Nana and G-Pop and shared with the whole restaurant! I think he's going to be some kind of philanthropist when he grows up... One thing of which I am sure, he is an amazing little man and I am blessed to have him!
